Salient CRGT Linux Administrator in Rockville, Maryland

Job Description

Salient CRGT seeks a Linux Administrator for one of our leading federal clients: Food and Drug Administration.

In this role you will:

  • Install, configure, and maintain an open-source Content Management System (e.g. Drupal) and its supporting components in a Linux cloud environment

  • Perform server patching to ensure compliance with applicable Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)

  • Diagnose and resolve problems in the production environment to minimize impact to mission critical systems

  • Coordinate with the development and infrastructure operations teams on O&M and Project related activities

  • Assist with the development, management, and subsequent enhancements to the automation engine and scripts associated with the code deployment process

  • Support integration with other technologies such as Akamai CDN and search solutions (e.g. Google Search Appliance, Solr, Elastic Search)

  • Write shell scripts and Ansible playbooks to automate routine processes

  • Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure issues within the AWS console and other cloud tools

  • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among the team

  • Provide on call support for production issues

Required Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline, with 5 years (or commensurate experience).

  • 3+ years of experience as a Linux Administrator

  • LAMP or similar experience (Linux, Apache Server, MySQL, and PHP)

  • 1+ years of experience working in an AWS, Google, or Azure cloud environment

  • 1+ years of experience working with the Git version control system

  • Experience writing Ansible playbooks

  • Bash, Python, and/or other programming or scripting experience. Solid scripting ability is critically important for this role

  • Understanding of CI/CD concepts, containerization, and Microservices

  • Understanding of Docker and building Docker containers

  • Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile Software Development concepts

  • Working knowledge of networking hardware, protocols, and theories

  • Familiarity with IT security controls and documentation

  • Strong communication (written, verbal, interpersonal) skills with the ability to connect with a wide variety of audiences, including clients and team members
